From the Digital to the Visual Haptic
Lab Art - Visual Research

On how the visual-digital realm oscillates among different expressive media bearing in mind that creation is an avenue of research.

For several years, ASCII art has been the starting point that has nourished my work, either in painting, engraving, net-art, mail art, telepresence, or art actions. I feel attracted by the visual effects and the possibilities it offers. I also consider it an artistic tool, which produces conceptual and visual ideas.

These disciplines have led me to deal with different aspects of contemporary art, for instance: collective and individual work, network art, intense international communication with other artists, art on the Internet, and finally, the eternal return to the solitude of painting, like a monk that goes back to the peace of his monastery; absolutely necessary to observe and reflect over what has been experienced.

MY CURRENT WORKS ARE THE VISUAL SYNTHESIS OF THIS JOURNEY

It is nourished with the freedom of mail art, with its artiststamp and visual poetry; the net-art and ASCII; the digital world , working with layers and transparencies, and the use of some solutions from engraving techniques. I search for space, the chromatic adventure and expressed by the weaving structures.

In this exhibition, by simply using acrylics, I intend to express on canvas the trace that these experiences have left in my soul, focusing on developing an abstract work, without putting aside the themes of nature and ecology.

Nature speaks to me, just like to any human being. I need to stop and listen to her. Nature fenced in by mankind. I express this subtly, for instance, placing the names of birds facing extinction disappearing into the tangled image of these new times, depicted with images that simulate the digital realm.

A hybrid work, that continues with the idea of recycling concepts, images and techniques.
